FJ60 stumbling and bucking at highway speeds

Taking the cap off won't do anything w/ your timing. It's attached by three small screws that are accessed around the caps rim. The dis itself and timing is adjusted by a single 12mm bolt off to the right lower side that you don't need to touch when removing the cap.

And FYI if you were able to understand all the vac lines and it's valves just by simply reading the fsm then setting timing will be a breeze for you!

Thanks so much @NeverGiveUpYota. I'm not sure I understand the vacuum lines, but i'm trying! haha.

So i just pulled off the distributor cap.. Looks pretty good to me...here are some pics.

only issue I have had with the caps are on my fj45 with a fj60 dizzy, its not vented right, so every year it goes thru a cap...not sure why(besides the venting) but I just carry a new cap for when it starts to run crappy(it goes from good to bad almost overnight)

Now would be a good time to put the mighty vac on the diaphragms and see if they are advancing the plate. That plate looks pretty funked up.

Well I'm shifting it and it works pretty well, it just seems to hesitate occasionally. That makes sense about the EGR, and it is a good suggestion about the distributor cap. I got to be honest I'm such a newb that I'm worried about taking the distributor cap off and messing up the timing, I still havent figured out how to set the timing on this truck yet. One of the many things on my list.

how do you like living in Colorado? I live south of seattle and traffic is just horrid. Housing has gone up 40% this past year. As for your truck it hesitates when what rpm from a stop?

I love Colorado! Although I will say that traffic around Denver is getting pretty bad as well, and we bought our house 4 years ago and I'm glad we did because it is getting pretty expensive here as well! But Seattle area is beautiful!

It usually stumbles above 2000 rpm and it seems like under load, (going up a hill etc. ) when I first brought the truck home it got so bad that I couldn't move the truck and had to call a tow. I don't know why it got worse. I have been driving it around town here and I can get around just fine with just an occasional stumble, but i'm scared to take it to far away.

Here is a quick link to a video I took when it first started on the drive home with the truck. Its not very good, but you can see i'm cruising along around 55 and near the end of the video if you turn up the volume you can hear it. Again, not the best video, but i haven't taken another one yet.

I know this is an old post. But what ended up being your issue? I have similar symptoms.
