FJ60 front axles on 72 55...

Can I get confirmation from the board that the front axle from a 1982 FJ60 will fit on a 72' 55. I want disc brakes. Thanks for your help.

Well, it CAN fit, but it's a bit of work...the 60 axle is a little wider and the springs on your 55 would have to be moved outward (see nucular lemons thread on 60 axles under her Pig elsewhere on 'Mud). Keep your stock axle where it is and just use the knuckles and brakes and birfs from the 60...

so if the axels are wider would that mean they would "effectively" make it more stable?
