If you have a fj55 with a small block chevy under the hood do you use stock exhaust manifolds or headers. And if you use headers what headers do you use and how did you route your exhaust pipes?

Im currently running the stock manifolds. The swap was done by the previous owner and when they ran the exhaust they had the exhaust angle back towards the front then loop around the frame.

Its a bad picture, but you can kinda get the idea. I'll see if i can get a better picture later when its a little warmer out. (currently -6 here...)

Stock SBC rams horn center dump manifolds into a Walker tube crossover, then custom single exhaust above the frame rail on the driver side. Quietest turbo-style muffler I could find.

I'm using the 5.3 version of the SBC. The stock truck manifolds dumped right on the frame rails, so I went with Sanderson center dump headers, ceramic coated.

Due to transfer case mount interference, I'll have to run the pass. side in front of the oil sump and connect to the left side.

Jealous, that's a fantastic setup, I wish I had a LSx series engine..

I like old school rams horn manifolds the best. They are very compact and decent dumps while maintaining good access to the spark plugs.

I looked around for the ram horns, as I like them also, but nobody had them for the Vortec motor. I was never a big fan of headers, I'm hoping the ceramic coated stainless steel will last awhile.

I used 5.7 LS1 corvette manifolds on my LQ4 swap. They are center dump with a bend toward the rear. They are sheetmetal so I could cut the right side bend off and turn the bend to go under the sump.

not the greatest pic.
