FJ55 in need of help!

Hello everyone. I just bought a 1973 Iron Pig and tuned it up. changed the fuel filter, thermo, air filter, plugs changed the oil and had the rad flushed. I drove it around for about 15mins when it started to overheat. I shut it off and waited a few minutes then started it up again but now it wont stay on unless I'm giving it gas. I checked the oil and its clean... Any thoughts?

how do you know it overheated? stock guage? make sure it's actually getting hot, bad thermostat? or the rad might need to be rodded out, not flushed. flushing will not get out heavy buildup.

does your carb have the idle selenoid on it, start with that to make sure it's functioning.

could just be the gas tank not venting.

For the not running issue check the fuse for the fuel cut solenoid on the carb.
