Fj55 ---> Fj45?

Hello,

I have a fj55 in need of a total new body. The pig body has already had a date with the grinder so there is no chance of salvaging the body back and restoring it. So anyways i was wondering what is the possablity of getting fj45 cab, firewall, hood and so on and putting that body on a fj55 frame?

I've searched only to find extended fj40's but no fj45 bodies on a fj-55 frame. Does anyone have any experence?

Not sure why you'd swap, but as hard as it is to find a good 45 I'd just be happy with that.

I do not know of anyone that has done this, but it is only metal, and you should be able to fabricate body mounts and the like...

The reason why i'm looking for another type of body, is that this summer i bought a rolled fj-55 for $50 dollars that is mechanically good. In terms of getting a replacement i was looking at Aqualu reman Tubs: http://www.aqualu.com/index.html


Does anyone have any experence with these tubs? such as quailty and what not.

The timing of this thread, and that auction, are nothing short of INCREDIBLE!

If you do the swap, take into consideration that the location of the front axle in relationship to the engine isn't the same on a 55 as the it the 40 series. Otherwise your tires will look kinda goofy in the back of your front fenders like this:

reversing the springs will fix that.

Not exactly since 55 springs are centered.

40 springs? You might also have to do something about your steering as well.

i jst wonder how it's titled as fj45, but has 55 frame? here, vin goes off the frame not body. i take it some states don't do that?
