FJ55 Early Dash conversion?

Hi,

was wondering if anyone has taken an early dash and converted it to a later style dash? I have a 1970 FJ55 and am thinking of taking the whole dash assembly, spot welds and all out and swapping in a later dash assembly, by assembly I mean the whole metal underdash, including guages, etc. I like the look of the later dashes and the dashboards are available new from spector, etc. Appreciate any help or insight.

i have plans to do same this summer, using 77 dash in a 69. haven't looked at it closely but was thinking of just mating the center section. what you are describing would probably be easier. might also allow better access to rust prevention to the sub windshield areas.
please take pics if you start hacking and drilling. thanks

If anyone has a pic, I wouldn't mind seeing an early dash, I have a '76 (i'm assuming it's the later one). All the dashes I've seen look like mine.
