yep, #4 spark plug wire was faulty.

wrong plugs installed as well..the new ones smoothed out the idle.

Do your 45's take the short or long spark plugs? the distance of the threaded part that goes into the engine. My 45 has, "short throw" plugs in it, and I have found mention of this size in many places, but haven't been able to find any of the short plugs, just the longer, 3/4" ones. I am afraid to put the longer ones in, as I don't want to have a piec break off inside my engine. Any thoughts?

yep...

go to http://www.densoproducts.com/resultsSearch.asp

enter W16FS-U in the search field. I didn't buy from that site but they do have all the specs on Denso plugs. The application guide on that page shows Corvair but those plugs are what I am running.

14mm thread, 12.7mm(1/2") reach, 13/16" hex, U-groove ground electrode

Let me run out to the truck and get the NAPA plug wire part number for you too. Really nice wires and only 25.00.

Napa spark plug wire set - Napa part # 700126 7mm (blue in color if that bothers you)

Oil filter element - Toyota part # 04152-60060

Almost lost a wheel to the death wobble....wheel bearing wasn't tight at all. It was about 1/4" too loose  Replaced the hubs while I was at it with some old school warns.

Swapped the starter with an FJ60 starter (because Landpimp is cool)

Cleaned up the gauge cluster and replaced the insulators for the amp gauge. Last thing I want is another electrical fire. Been there when my J**P caught fire.

Took out the bulb covers so I can actually see the gauges too

Changed all the fluids as well :)

my 64 takes the short ones, I am using W16P-U as that is what the old Toyota # changed over to. I actaully got mine at the dealer....4 of them were in stock ;)

I had in a rush one day found some Bosch that crossed over and worked fine.

My local parts store use to stock them, but no longer, ND stoped re-stocking them

here are the orignal part# from the old manual
plugs
ND W-17ES
NGK B-6E
Champion N5
Bosch W175T2

the ND plugs I used are W16P-U Toyota part 90098-16775.
