I received this switch with a 1964 FJ45 LV wiring harness. It is a Toyota switch. The shaft was cut.

Can someone tell me what it is for? It appears to be a heater switch due to the wire colors used on it (L, LR, LW and WB). The odd thing is that it had a FEMALE connector on it instead of a MALE like most switches. Any idea what it is would be helpful.

It's a wiper switch. The plug goes to a small harness then on to the wiper motor. The LV's appear to have had a different wiper switch then the other Cruisers. It is on off only......no washer, no speeds. Here's what the knob looks like.

Thank you JackA! Now I can puzzle out the wiper motor harness for the LV. If anyone should have a pic of that harness showing the connector and the motor connections, that would be great! I'm assuming it went up the left inside windshield frame like on the FJ40's?

I see you also have a Fan switch for a heater. Did the LV's come with that OEM or was it a dealer add on? If OEM what kind of connector does it have? The molded rubber three pin like early FJ40's, or a 4 pin connector like show on the above wiper switch? Also, single or two speed fan?

I'm trying to finish up a complete new 1964 LV harness for a MUD member before my next eye surgery (Thursday maybe...)

The wiper motor and arms on LV are on the bottom of the cowl. So the wires go from switch directly to the motor/harness. I would love to see the wiper motor harness too, as mine is missing.

As for my heater switch, it's a later model unit and is not mount in the correct position.

Here is a pic of the 1965 FJ45 LV wiper motor assembly from Buckroseau's thread.
So you are saying the switch I have plugs directly into the wiper motor wiring pigtail? There is no short inter-connecting harness that goes between the two?

Well, just to be sure, I may make a short pigtail between the two, but after looking at how long the motor pigtail is, I really think the two just plug together. Got to get this finished before my surgery Thursday!

Just an FYI for anyone trying to figure out the wiper wiring on the LV. The wiper switch switches B+ power, not ground like on the FJ40 wipers.
Also can't quite figure out why there are 4 wires including ground going to the motor from the switch but the wipers are only ONE speed?

On the FJ40 the LW wire is LOW speed and the LR is high speed. The LV motor and switch both have the LR wire. If the LV wiper motor has the high speed brush and it's attached to the LR wire, then all you need to get two speeds out of your LV wiper motor would be a two speed FJ40 wiper switch and a bit of wire juggling to make it work.

Anyone got a pic of the brush housing on the LV motor to verify if it has the high speed brush?

I'll verify on my '64 if it connects directly to the wiper motor pigtail later this afternoon. I'm sure it does.

I'll also get you measurements for the tail-light wiring for your other thread.

It connects directly to the wiper motor pigtail. The bullet terminal connects to the female counterpart on the main wiring harness which then goes to the fuse block.

During the weekend I can try putting power to the other wire and see if the motor does anything. The existing one speed function is no good and really wish the motor was a dual speed. So, here's hoping.

Thanks for the verification that no extension is needed. The new harness I built has the B+ power for the wipers so that switch will plug right in.

If you find that the wipers run faster by applying B+ power to the LR wire then I will look into making some kind of adapter that would allow the FJ40 two speed switch to be used in the LV.

Remember that the wiper motor in the LV must be grounded, so it you unplug the switch, and apply power to the LR wire in the 4 pin motor connecotor, you must also supply ground the the White/Black wire on the motor connector in order for it to work.

Hmmmm.... I'm really puzzled now as to why that motor has 4 wires but only one speed. If you ever take that motor out and remove the end cap take pics of the internal wiring and brushes. Maybe that would give us a clue.

Really appreciate the "exploration" !
