Hey everyone! Thought I'd post some pix of my '45. It's just in the beginning and will take awhile. When I got the rig some restoration had been done. SOA with SB 350 and 465-205. I pulled that out and put in a 2H with 4 speed. She needed a complete rewire, had some cancer and took that out, LOTS more to do. I'll keep you posted!

Its looking good, you should go back to the original spring green when you paint. I have been thinking seriously about painting my lv that color.I love Vintage hunting rigs.

mechanical advice

yeah, ive heard that about Joe. I am probably going to paint it red, the guage cluster is from a 1979 hj45 i bought as a half car from sor, ccjoe and i used various pieces to convert our rigs to toyota diesels. I pulled the wiring harness and modified the steering column so that it fit the 65 w/saginaw pwr, steering and has all the glow plug relays etc. wired into ign. switch. I didnt want to spend a fortune on taillights so i fit a set of later fj40 lights , i think they look ok. there is still a lot of small rust repair to be done but generally the body is in good shape. I am going to either buy a turned front housing or turn this one myself, it has a pwr brake adaptor & front discs from a mini trk, that i will keep. Lockers in the rear and limited slip up front are also in the plans.i modified the oem dash shifter to fit the 4spd and the floor shift to straight push pull in&out 4wd.

Was the taillight swap hard to do? I've been thinking about changing mine over to the newer style as well.

BTW, I like the faded red look a lot. I hope you're not planning to paint.

I have a few questions about your 2H swap;
Are your using the splitcase transfer case?
If you are what bell housing are you using?
Are you running a two belt crankshaft pulley to run your power steering pump?
Where did you get your saginaw pump to 2H bracket?
Thanks

Here's a few more pics

Get that fan off the rad and make a shroude, you will be very pleased then.

I know this from expierence.

sorry it took so long to reply, been out of town, the 2h, is mated to a 4spd from a 79 hj45 with stk trnsfr, case. i used a 2h bell housing i aquired from sor, the pwr steer pump is a vickers unit that works well with saginaw box, very compact, used a modified alt, mount to fit on 2h. regarding the fan i plan on mounting the electric fan on a shroud i will build to fit. did you use an elec, fan ?.

the tailights were really close to dropping right in the stk, holes. only a little hammer & dolly work to make fit.coolcruiser has a good price on light sets.definately going to paint but thats a ways down the road lots of little things to do first.

Well I have been driving the truck for a few weeks now, had to do some major work to front suspension, was completely out of wack.drives & steers good now.have been getting 18-18.5mpg.it gets up to speed much better than my 40 [b diesel] and almost as good mpg.so far the engine has been every thing i wanted, hope to post more pics soon. anyone have any thoughts on front & rear bumpers?.

I like my 45's front bumper. Very stout, but didn't keep the PO from bending it a little. :D

And the rear from my very short-time owned 45 was cool (and would match the front I think).

Dang where does everybody find these nice looking 45's? I am dying to get my fingers on one that is at least half decent, but have yet to find one.
Very nice truck and swap
