Would it be a bad idea to go ahead and Rhino line or Durabak the whole interior of my 45??? I'm considering this because I have zero paint skillz and think the liner would be easier and more durable. I'm asking because other than a few pinholes it's very solid and it's not like I can take the bedliner off later :o

Also it appears I have 2 different seats here, which is original???

The drivers seat frame has been chopped on and I considered replacing it, is a early fj40 seat the same???

Does anybody sell the seat foam or factory cover to fit these seats???

You could Durabak your interior in a day and reassemble it. It would, IMO look pretty killer, much better than it does now.

I'd do a black floor (get a 1/2 gallon so you can do some of your frame and bumpers if you want) and red 1/2 gallon, thinned a little so it spreads pretty well, sprays evenly, etc.

I think it'd look great.

Check out TJDIV thread on his 45 wagon. He just Durabaked the whole interior and it looks pretty good. I personally have zero experience in this area. Cha-ching, another post.

That was weird! We must have posted at the same time TJDIV....

:princess: Happy Birthday by the way!

Probably both original seats - looks like they have been re-covered at various times. $OR sells covers for the early benches...

I say line it after those pics from TJDIV's 45lv....I think that's what I'm going to do in my 55 (and some custom diamond aluminum panels!)

TJDIV is what got me started on this, his looks GREAT! THANKS for the birthday wishes, I'm about 4 hours from Pensacola.

I just don't want to fawk up a solid 45 but at this point most of my work is a improvement to what's been done in the past.

I can't figure out why somebody would hack on the drivers seat frame but they did, I want to keep the passenger side and recover it but I need a new drivers seat, anybody got one or know if a early FJ40 seat is the same???

4 hours isn't too bad. Might even get to see your truck some day.

Yeah Dan, we posted in like, the same millisecond.

Deep South,

can't you tack some extensions on to the frame of the seat and just re-cover it? Hell, once you do the interior 'painting' and seats, your trucks rockin' man.

yeah they look like the correct seats, but been recoved, SOR has foam and new seat covers, or you could just get some Tuff Duck slip covers for em......thats what I did.

fj40 seats are not the same, pas side on a 45 has a notch for the fuel filler, prolly some other diffs as well.

you could leave the pass side bench and do a old mini truck bucket on the driverside

I need to further inspect my drivers seat, what looked like welding and chopping might actually have been work to remove some pieces I'm seeing in other photo's that aren't on my seat.

IF I have the money I'm going to remove the old gas soaked foam and get new seat covers from SOR and it WILL be rocking then.

only pic of my 45 seats that is handy

if need something let me know and I will take pics

in the seat I posted above from SOR.com there is a flat spot on the outside leg and some support bars (toolbox under your seat PIMP?) but in looking at these stockers I realize mine actually hasn't been cut, just slightly modified (COOL!)

I need to put a fj steering wheel and shifter on too, right now I feel like I'm driving a low rider. The steering wheel is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat to high and the shifter is about dash height and has so much slack you can't even guess what gear your in.

the pic from SOR is a fj40 not a fj45, so its not the same.

fj45 long beds and shortbeds do not have a tool box under the seat, but the early short bed fixed tops do.

THANKS pimp, WHAT'S UNDER YOU SEAT? or is that just a trim piece on the outside edge?

I concur that mine is original because the flat spot on the outside frame leg was where I thought somebody cut it. I suppose I'll strip the seat frames and paint them too when I figure out wether to use pewter or black paint ;)

trim piece which yours is missing, I will not sware it unbolts or is part of the seat. the PO of mine made a little body/seat lift as well.

I'll get ya some pics latter.........maybe....if your nice :flipoff2:

My customer will be selling his seats out of the Mustard 45 on my web page.

I did ryno hyde(same stuff) in mine and it is awesome. Easy to clean and super durable. ANd why not take the seat in and get em built up again. I did and it cost me $75 for the split bench. Not stock fabric but dang comfortable and no more broken springs and saggin into the center.

This is what my seat looks like and after looking at Landpimps seat I think they differ quite a bit.
