1975 FJ40 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER
-SHORT DETAIL-
$42,500.00
HISTORY
I purchased this Land Cruiser two years ago from the second owner, who had bought it in the mid 80’s from his brother. This FJ40 had sat for nearly 10 years under a car porch located in Tucson, AZ. I bought the vehicle site unseen for full asking price as the seller stated that it was original. When I arrived to pick it up, it was exactly as advertised; Original!!! There had not been a thing done to the FJ40 aside from routine maintenance since it rolled off the factory floor, LITERALLY everything was in its place (with exception of the original radio) including original Toyota tool bag! It was the ideal restoration project.
Please keep in mind this was not a project to be resold as I intended on keeping this pristine FJ40 forever, all the work done was done for long-term vehicle life, not a profit venture. Please be reassured there were absolutely no short cuts taken during the restoration process.
The FJ40 is now located in Flagstaff AZ, it has been out west all it's life.
Also, this is just a quick summary of the major restoration points, almost all parts of the vehicle have been replaced or restored.
FRAME OFF RESTORATION
This was a no expense spared frame off, nut and bolt restoration, the detailed photos will show that. When available, all OEM Toyota parts were used.
- Media blasted / powder coated frame and all small parts.
- Complete 2F engine rebuild from reputable machinist, with existing warranty.
- Completely overhauled carburetor, starts right up and drives as new.
- Transmission / transfer case disassembled and completely resealed.
- Cooling system completely replaced, including heating components
- Interior has been restored to 100% original, aside from CD player and the locking Tuffy Deluxe consol.
- All parts that were not powder coated or base coat clear coat Sikkens painted, have been sand blasted and painted with POR 15.
- All stainless steel hardware used in exposed areas, and many other areas too.
- Underbody; media blasted, primed and undercoated with 3M bedliner sealer
- Body was completely striped and then base coat clear coat painted using all Sikkens products. All prep and paint work done by a master painter, Charles Baca.
- Bodywork; I have yet to see an FJ40 without ANY rust, and this one was no exception. However, it was amazingly limited. Rust spots were completely cut out and replaced with 16gauge steel. Rust spots were addressed in the following areas; both rear quarter panels had a small amout of rust, so I elected to not have any bondo as a cover up and completely replaced both quarter panels, the rear sill was completely replaced, the rear channel was completely replaced, and on both front fenders (effected area was extremely small, cut out and re-welded). This is now one of very few FJ40 Land Cruisers that is 100% rust free, and treated to be corrosion resistant.
NON-TOYOTA UPGRADES
- 4” Old Man Emu suspension lift with 4+plus shackle reversal kit, fully greasable shackles. Medium duty deluxe Safari springs, extremely nice ride quality.
- BFG KM1 33x10.5 mud terrain tires mounted on original powder coated rims, with matching spare.
- Complete Wilwood 4-piston front disc brake kit with Brembo slotted / cross-drilled rotors and stainless steel braided brake lines. This kit was designed for this exact application and works very very well.
- Saginaw power steering kit with telescoping column. Complete kit with all new or reconditioned components.
- Warn model 8274, 8000bls winch and fairlead, with remote. 150ft cable.
- Tuffy deluxe lockable consol with cup holders and stereo pocket.
- Sony CD and multi-media player in the lockable center console.
- Two 4” Infinity speakers mounted under driver / passenger kick vents via TLC powder coated mounts. Most people don’t even see them!!
