FJ40 Transfer Case will not go into 2wd

Had mine stuck in 4hi. Stock 74 fj40.
Just replaced pinion seal and gear oil in front diff so I put it in 4Hi with hubs manually locked for a few miles to put some pressure on the new pinion seal and drive in a dirt lot across from the shop.
Then, could not get out of 4hi, and hubs stuck. I backed it up 20 feet, same thing. Still stuck.
Popped the clutch once forward, once back, very small chirp of the tires, not even enough to kill the motor or bring my wife out the house for the WTF about burnouts in the driveway.
Rolling ever so slightly forward it clicked back into 2hi. At this point the hubs turned easily and smoothly to disengage.

Working great. Shifts great.
Problem. No 4wd
Selector right or left only drives the rear. Lever will not go forward. Tried everything. Any advice?

Cause the lever goes back to engage front. Left right changes from low range to high range. Put trans in nuetral, unlock the hubs, spin front shaft by hand to confirm free. Try & engage 4wd by pulling lever back towards seats, if it wont move at all it may be rusted/frozen, if it tries but wont shift try rotating the front shaft a bit and try again, it doesnt hurt to put the tcase in nuetral as well.

WORKED!! Thank you for the help! Was rusty. Pb blaster and some tapping inward and it worked!

There's a grease fitting on the shaft comming off of the trans for the shifter pivot.
