i have pretty low ceilings in my garage, but still have room to hang it from the ceiling. here is how i did it, and it works awesome. take the fiberglass top off, and lay it upside down on the ground. build a wood frame, in the shape of a box, that has a couple of cross members. mount the frame from your ceiling with hinges on one side, on the other side, fasten straps that hook to eye bolts, or hooks, that are on the ceiling. this way you, by yourself, can lift it to the ceiling for storage. have the frame lowered with oneside on the ground, lay the hardtop on the frame, lift up the other side and hook it to the ceiling.

takes up no space and keeps the top from warping.

Ya you have to keep it. Let your wife know that she should think of it as an investment. I really think you'll regret it later if you sell it. My two cents.
