Alright I just called river raider and they assured me it wouldn't be an issue so I think I found a nice inexpensive solution to the problem. Thank you to all that posted this. For others looking into this issue if anyone has any insight on mounting the filter on the stack please chime in.

Just to give you a heads up which i didn't notice when I purchased. The box comes in raw form and it's kind of heavy considering it's size. However I made a bracket that bolted to the driver side inside fender just forward to the of the brake resevoirs about 6-8 inches. If I had longer hose I would have mounted it where the blower motor mounts on the passenger side firewall since I do not have that motor. It would have been a perfect fit since it blocked the square holes in the firewall where the motor typically mounts. This is with a 2F not sure how much room you have with the 350, any pictures under your hood? I could probably judge where you could place it.

spectre inline air box works great with couple piping sizes. I run 4" piping with spectre Carb hat and the inline air box I"ll take some photos of how clean it came out.

Here is my set up. I have the 90 turned forward until I get my desired aluminum bends welded up to install a pre-filter on top.

Here's a pic of my plumbing

I can see that your hood is hold by the gas strut. Which one have you used? Do you have any close-up pictures of it and it's mounts?

You are correct, I do have gas struts on my hood and boy they are nice. Honestly what I like about them is that they open the hood evenly and keep it up even. Alot of times the single hood prop causes the hood to bend or twist and with the new paint it could eventually cause it to crack. The struts are really easy to install and the directions are very good with colored pictures. The kit comes with everything you need to install minus the rivet gun. I kist ventures over redline's site and it appears they are just selling the base model struts right now. The ones I purchased were there top of the line stainless steel with powder coat hardware kit. I just ordered this kit a little over a month ago so I'm unsure why they wouldn't have the best kit anymore. Anyways here is a direct link. I will also take some upclose pictures tomorrow for you

Oh the struts are really easy to pop off as well if you decide you need to lean your hood against the windshield.

The problem with the f-150 box is the diameter of the tubing... I think its like 3" and i need it 4". and it looks like a pain to modify. I went to the junk yard and looked at those. I appreciate the insight though

Why do you need 4"? The river raider box is not 4 inch unless you are having them make something special for you.

talking to river they would send the box with blank plates and i would have to cut and sleeve and weld so at that point i might as well make the box... I have a 4" plenum and i was planning on 4" tubing up so why reduce it down and reduce the flow right?

True very true, did you ask then if they could do 4 inches? They make the kit after you order. It took some time to get mine

I am about to do something similar to this and found this thread. Did you use 4 in. Pipeing all all around? And how did you mount the intake box?

I used 4' all the way around. Here's what I did...

Don't use the s***ty plastic hose that he did. You need something like this. I had to buy 10 feet to get what I needed so I had a lot left over.

I ordered the elbows here, the cobra head here and the filter here.

Not yet, but it's on my list. I have it zip tied right now.

I was just looking through a spectre parts catalog and saw they actually make a couple of brackets. I don't know if they would work for your application but they might be helpful.
