If I remember, CONFERR would actually take a brand new FJ40 and swap 327 engines in them. I see the creativity but being a purist, where are all the original F engines at ?

Long serie incoming...

It all started with this picture, a 1971 FJ40, with French plate and most notable the, port installed, French market front turn signal and mirrors. Except SIDAT (Toyota France) only started selling the Land Cruiser in France in 1974 (and fabric doors were never sold in Europe).

So, the former owner of this FJ40 explained me that it's originally a Nigerian truck that was grey imported in France in 1973. Seems that SIDAT helped for the registration back then, details are not clear to me but maybe they used it as their homologation prototype to know what they will need to modify before to start the serie homologation/import.

The owner repainted it at some point because the original color was too close to a military green for travelling in some African countries.

And so I discovered that the guy had owned dozens of 40 series and Land Cruiser and participated to count less trip (or rally assistance) in Africa, in Middle-East, through the desert...

I though that those pictures were too good to not go to posterity here...
Most are from the 80's and some from the 70's. I don't have details for most of them and they are not ordered.
