Not sure how readily you can modify the stock support to work? Most V8s use ALL the space inside the frame for the exhaust; the stock support requires several inches inside the frame rail.

The two popular placements both use alternative mounts. One is to remove the blower from the heater system and locate the battery nest to the firewall. The other brings the battery try closer to fender apron height, using the shock tower for support. @lcwizard used to offer one of the second type.
Thanks very much for the guidance on battery support mount for a SBC FJ40. I'll look a bit closer on clearances.

hey sorry only just seeing this. it was from early 70s but i dont recall exactly.
Thanks for clarifying. I was hoping to use your oem battery bracket, with a little modification, for my SBC FJ40.

But looking at it a bit closer, that may not be practical, given clearance issues with the V8 headers. I sure did like the price!

If you decide to DIY, you should probably still buy this. At the seller’s pricepoint, it makes for a great starting point to build off of.😉

We still make a few of the battery trays. I designed them in the early 90s so they're fine with first gen through late 90s vortec.
Can't swear to all the LS layouts . The LS platforms have a few accessory variations that are hard to get around.
