This is how I mounted mine. Your frame should already have two holes where I bolted the bracket.
These are repro's.

Are these OEM or reproductions?

No for the frames that I've seen. Please check your frame and correct me if I'm wrong.

on my rig (77) the only holes that seem would work best and give the tire and exhaust the clearance needed is the two holes that the back of the plastic blinker housing also use that go into the frame just behind the rear crossmember. are these the ones you guys are using?

Those two holes are too far out and the mud flaps won't be able to do their job.
