Looking at putting a brake booster (FJ40 or 60) into my 66' FJ40 to power the stock drums on the back and 79' FJ40 disc brake front axle. I was planning on piecing in the firewall from a mid-70's with the curved rib support, and 4hole mounting. Then I realized the pedal assembly would still be 3 holes. I dont want to run the huge adapter bracket (first pic) and wouldnt mind using the smaller adapter plate style (Second pic). Anyone have experience with this type of conversion?

Are you running the original master or a twin circuit? Misread what you're up to, if you are stitching in part of the firewall I'd run later pedals. I have a remote booster on my 69 but its drum/drum and single circuit - works well, tho.

One issue without changing the firewall is that the booster plus longer MC gets pushed forward and can interfere with the carb.
On my 69, I used that JTOutfitter adapter and that dual master with no booster, and even that hit the choke breaker on the 2 barrel I installed.

Go twin circuit, my single circuit/boosted was done back in the day, BUT if I was doing what you are and space was tight I'd at least consider a remote booster on the front brakes. This is the modern version of my old PBR booster which I think was built under licence to Girling. There are dual circuit remote boosters too.
You can locate them anywhere, I have an old Alfa with the MC under the floor and 2 of these on the firewall.
