Is this tailgate the same as a 25 tailgate other than the bracket? Sure looks it. It may be cheaper to buy a new one than to fix mine.

Oh, and you'll need four holes for that bling TOYOTA emblem.
If it matters...the center raised section of a 25 is 1 1/8" wide, same as that 62/40 at tlc, the later 40 is 2 1/4" wide. But if you don't tell anyone no one will know. (oops, I let the whole world know) Old Fart is getting the wide middle rib tailgate from a 72/40. On later tailgates circa 1976, the hinge placement is differant than the early tailgates. John P #3

Checked my tailgates this weekend and sure enough the center section is narrower on the 25s. The FJ40 tailgate is from a 1971 and the hinge location is still the aame. I checked the last tailgate I got out of a junk yard. It was on a early FJ40 soft top. I figured it was a replacement because it was so rust free. Narrow center section means it's probably original.
