Have you done this yet? It seems like the canvas on my FJ25 with A type bows would have to slope down and back to the rear gate instead of being more vertically straight down like the pics. I'd like to have a pic of the A type canvas installed. Anyone?

soft top doors are going to be a PITA

The soft top doors are going to be a lot harder to recover with canvas much less to manufacture than the later 40 soft top doors because the canvas covers the whole door not just the bottom :frown: . Its not a single piece. At the window opening the canvas is hemmed with other pieces to give it depth. The window channel has to be removed to replace the canvas :mad: . I suggest anyone who has a set with original canvas only do one at a time so that a pattern is still available. I would have a shop make two covers, one to match the one removed as a pattern and one reversed. Install the one and when that's done remove the old canvas from the other door. that way you always have something to reference. When the tops are made there's going to have to be enough material included to make covers for the doors plus what's needed for the window hem :doh: . I think the doors will be harder to make than the bows IMOP :rolleyes: . Anyone with extra wheels I might be willing to trade for doors:grinpimp: .

Ummm . . . . Interesting tail light array and tail-pipe routing; not to mention the Toyota placard on the tailgate. However, the matching e-brake / t-case boots are a nice touch. TNK wiper motors, ya think?
 
John, I'm not so sure about that not being a resto. Some things just don't agree, like the upholstery, black frame and other tidbits, been a long time since I studied those pics.

Steve, the TNK's are probably a retrofit. None of the early pics I've seen have the tail lights body mounted (but that doesn't mean it never happened). The tailgate emblem........someday I'll repro it. Also note that the transfer lever is mounted on the right side of the hump, pretty neat.

Jim, isn't that just a flattened-out standard Toyota rear end emblem (the yellowish one that partially wraps around the rear quarter panel of an FJ40)?

Mixed results with Mike's A-Style bows. Basically fit, but the panels in back were too long. Mike, I was thinking it could also be that if the length along the top was shorter it would pull the back bow up......

So, are those the slightly larger OEM tailgate TOYOTA emblems you were telling me about above? (Can't tell from the pics.)

Has anyone seen where they would go on a hardtop model if the spare tire carrier was back there? Same place, opposite side ya think?
