Hi, How much oil in compressor when changing out to new ? I know dryer, condensor. Massive seal failure on compressor drained all oil in compressor but 4ccs. My guess 70-100 ccs, but not sure? Thanks, MIke

I guess I'm Mr. A/C this week?

Not sure about the answer on this one, however. From what I gather from the FSM, it depends on what you take out as to what you put back. It has you add oil to the compressor depending on what components you've taken out:

Evaporator: 40cc
Drier: 10cc
Condensor: 40cc

So I guess if you pull the compressor, you just put the full 90cc back in?

Good question. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

Compressor, Denso ,came with 107 ccs in it.

Odd the FSM doesn't say anything about adding compressor oil after rebuild for the compressor...

I know I have 3 different ac toy. manuals and none say. Mike

fj-60 says 155-185 ccs for R-12 system, seems like too much for R134-A? Thanks, Mike

If just a comp is being changed out...measure thr amount that can be poured out of it and add that much back into the system. Be sure to rotate the internals as to get as much out as possible.

Thanks Scotia. Appreciate your help.

X2 on what scotia said. I usually flush the whole system (minus the drier and compressor) and drain the compressor. That way I know how much oil to put back in. For 80's (R12 & 134a) I use 7oz of ND8/PAG46 and 1oz of ICE 32.
