I am looking for a Land Cruiser with a hard top and hard doors. It should be a somewhat running vehicle for no more than $8,000 USD. Located in Santa Fe, NM. Must have vehicle title in the same name/address as seller. Preference given to unlifted suspensions and bodies.

Look at the light green one in Abq CL. Looks like he still has it. Maybe you can get it on the cheap. Not worth ten to me. Maybe 5-6k paint is bad. Has rust. Ran well. But pretty sure he’s thinking he’s going to get 10k from someone.

Just depends on what your after. Can tell you right now, Unless you want a rough one $8,000 isn’t going to get you far. And the competition for one is harsh. I’ve watched a few in the last two years vanish within hours of popping up. No joke I would see it posted an hour or two before then it would be gone. I lost out on several 40’s in the last few years by being the next in line to come see it. If you see one you like get to see it quick. Or I may have it.

Called him. He said that the brakes need, "pumping." So in my book it is non-running; I'd have to take it on the freeway to get it home. I called a tow company and they said that the vehicle needs a registered owner. A '73, which is not advertised, is available to me. I will look into it.

I expect to have a project, and I have had an FJ40 project before. I'm interested. You live in Texas? It is hard getting it from a private seller if I don't actually show up at your address to verify that the title is legit. I've had several offers on vehicles being sold by people who may not actually have the title in their name; meet me at the gas station, or where the vehicle is parked. The 13 digit VINs are searchable on the web, so is it a later model?

I have a 73 my add is on page 2. I have a clear title I will be glad to pm you a photo of it. I will be more then happy to answer any question. Thanks.

I like your '73. However, someone else will appreciate the suspension mods more than me; and I don't have a trailer.

Not a catch yet. I saw the vehicle the other week, but it is among a bunch of other in progress projects, jeeps and what not. Most of the 73s body was contained in bubble wrap and he was working on locating a fiberglass top, he lost one during a drive in a windstorm, and rear swing-outs. I didn't get a test drive because the front seat was not present. Leaks at pinion seals, and shackle lift. The front of the frame and bumper looks a bit bent, but I am really more concerned of what might be under a layer of body filler and primer on the frame and body (Pennsylvania truck).

I could have followed up on the CL one in NW Albuquerque, but I had a difficult time asking questions from the owner without being interrupted by his soliloquy, and I kinda wonder about any vehicle advertised as being running if you have to, "pump the brakes up."

And, I was looking at a 1971 a while ago, but it was bone dry in one of the m.c. reservoirs, and bone dry in the slave reservoir, no coolant visible in the radiator, no concept of how to use the cable choke, so he used a ton of carb cleaner to get it started, and as I declined his offer to take it for a test drive while it is smoking out the exhaust, he told me to come back at 1pm after he "topped-off the fluids." It was a nice truck that was a great price, but it was almost too good of a deal in a world that includes the internet, and trailers (which I don't have access to).

That’s rough. Typically I see several start popping up in the spring and summer. Hopefully you catch a good one in the next few months.

I'm amending my search to include FJ-40s with toasted motors, melted wiring harnesses, and pack rat nests. Also, I prefer a synchronized 1st gear, and stock everything. I don't mind mild patina; I'd rather do mechanical work than perform a frame-off.
