FJ 40 Engine Block Serial Number

Hi,

So I have a fj40 block with a serial number of "F" thats all it says.

Any thoughts on what year it is

Usually a non serial large item like a frame / engine block will be from a replacement part, warranty or not. So, if someone needed a new block, probably had no serial number.

Casting date is on the manifold side of the block. Usually toward the front on F blocks, but might be toward the rear on a later F service block.

Cylinder head casting date is on top of head, just outside valve cover.

Maybe so, but, if a casting number is there, but no serial number , What's up ?? That is the issue.

As said before... no serial number means it was a replacement block ... not an engine swap from say another cruiser

Service replacement part. It is not serial numbered because it is not a complete engine assembly.
