All State Trust land is closed for recreational use.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 25, 2021
STATE TRUST LAND CLOSURE UPDATE

On Wednesday June 23, 2021, the Arizona State Land Department (ASLD) and Arizona Department of Forestry & Fire Management (DFFM) announced a statewide closure of State Trust Land beginning at 8:00 a.m. this morning, due to increased fire activity, exceptional drought conditions, and extremely high fire danger.

The initial closure order specified that resident owners and lessees of land within the closed area are exempt from the closure order. The exemption applies to ALL holders of any land use agreement from ASLD. For clarification, recreational permits are not land use agreements and—as announced in the initial closure order—State Trust Land is closed to entry by recreational permit holders for all recreational activity until further notice.

A “No Entry” declaration within an active wildfire suppression area applies to ALL State Trust Land users, whether recreational or otherwise.

ASLD asks that all non-recreational land use agreement holders avoid using mechanized equipment and avoid activities which may generate a spark and potentially ignite a fire.

Please continue to act responsibly and stay safe as this wildfire and drought season continues.

For more information regarding State Trust Land closures, please contact Dave Cherry at 602-542- 2626 or by email at dcherry@azland.gov. For more information regarding DFFM’s wildfire suppression efforts, contact Tiffany Davila at 602-540-1036 or by email at tdavila@dffm.az.gov.

Jeez,... who wrote that release?

Everything. Everything is closed from this point forward. I wonder if they'll provide a fractional, prorated refund of our $20 State Trust Land Use Permits?

(*Thanks for letting us know, Sir.)

Indeed. You know, my dad always had an antipathy for national parks as federal land you couldn't use fully. I guess that applies to all of AZ this year.

Blame my stupid iPhone copy and paste for the spelling errors - the pdf reads better.

I didn’t notice the missing letters in many of the words of the release until now 🥸
