Got my loan, paid my bills, and the leftovers go towards a truck. Thanks to craigshelper.com, I managed to find a 4runner in the midwest that was worth buying.

Here it is...
1988 Toyota 4Runner 4X4 For Sale or Trade for VW Hippie van

The thing looks real clean, and with a new motor, rebuilt trans/clutch, and little to no rust, it is just what a wanted (sans a solid front axle of course.)

Gonna be talking with the guy about it, and hopefully about when I can pay for it and pick it up. Please everyone, let me know what you think. And if it really is as good as it looks/sounds/seems, wish me luck in getting it.

I would hold out for a solid axle. That is what I did and really glad I am. If you build it at all or wheel it hard you will not like that IFS. It looks clean and looks like a nice one though. Go look at it and drive it before you pay to make sure it is what he says it is.

agreed on the checking it out in person first, and as for the SA, I won't be doing too much wheeling anytime soon, mainly using it for commuting and work use, but I have a donor vehicle for a SAS tucked away at my junkyard in town. I called dibs on the truck with the owner, and since I go there so often, he said ok. That would be down the road a ways though.

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me....

It's been said before but.... If you are really going to wheel something... the front suspension is going to be completely reworked whether its a solid axled vehicle or an IFS rig..... So don't let that be a determining factor in choosing a truck.

truck looks to be in great shape from the pics that guys going to regret selling it
