Can this be programmed?
I’m finding myself on trails that combine relatively high speed sections where 4th gear, low range is too low, with slow speed technical spots requiring low range and 1st, 2nd or 3rd. I don’t want to have to constantly be stopping to shift in and out of low. 5th gear low range would perfect for the high speed sections.
I am running 4.56 gears and 33” tires.

Not that I am aware of. If so, I am in.

I even run up against it with oem gears cause I like doing rally stages.

You'd probably need to talk to a tuner directly to inquire if they could do it. IMO it would also be a nice add on a 470.

Might need to ask the tuners that have access to the transmission tuning to remove the limit on low range.

Another idea is to make a low range signal detection bypass from the 4WD ecu in the glove box. The bypass basically fool the ECU from knowing the transfsr case is in low range. That way it would shift all they way to 6th. Not sure if that would trigger some faults or not.

The gear selection is very limited on 8.2 diff. Try stepping to 35 and see if you have same issue. 4.56 with 33 is too low for me.

I'm quite happy with 4.56s and 33s but I tow often. For a non-towing rig it would probably be too much gear with 33s.

I tow an off-road trailer which my final gear ratio makes tolerable and when not towing makes driving all the more enjoyable. I’ve had two 100 series with 4.88s and 33s which, surprisingly, was a great combo.

I have actually been toying with the idea of getting an Atlas 4 speed, partially for this reason and partially to have a second ratio thats equivalent to a Rubicon then a super low.

Back in the day I used to hit 55-60 with way too tall gears and a stick shift.

If you dont mind revs I can hit low 30a but its really pushing the engine revs wise.

Also, truck behaves differently when you come out of 4lo so i tend to stay in it all day where the Jeeps are in and out.

What MPH are you running up to in 4-Low?
Smooth sandy two-tracks allowing for 30 or more MPH. My limitation is RPMs.

I just spent a week in SE Utah, Canyonlands area, specifically. If you’re familiar you know what I mean about fast sections followed by rocky technical spots.

Quick question, how fast are you wanting to go in Lo-5th gear? Generally, here in So. Calif., many trails have too many woops (washboard) to go much over 25 or 30 MPH, so I just stay in Lo and don't let my tachometer spin up too high.

I am asking around right now. As I may be able to justify a regear and if I can I want to go with 5.29s

The other option, which i have been eyeballing would be a Atlas twin stick 4 speed conversion. It would be a secondary consideration for it. It would also allow twin transfer gear reduction sections without impinging into the fuel tank. Which us the main reason I want it.

Oouuuu! Double transfer case! There'll be at least one person envious on the forum.

Its been a dream mod since I saw an 85 4runner wheeling with one in 2001.

I started lusting after them after seeing a Toy pick with Marlin Crawler double transfer case rock crawling with the driver literally walking/climbing beside it with the door open steering as necessary. That truck was doing about .5 MPH over those obstacles. I just looked for the video, but found this instead:

Yea, dude was walking his truck with his dog in the driver seat.
