i have a 1997 hzj75 ute. it has 9.5 rear and small high pin front. from what i have found the front diff is the same as an australian hilux ute, for which there are 3.7 gears. the intended solution for less rpm at 100k's is a 60 series rear and a hilux front to supply the gears (3.73)

The issue with your front diff it's High Pinion .. reverse cut setup .. and the hi lux not ..

Hi, I'm about to do the same thing with my 1994 HZJ75 ute,
This site and thread has given me
a lot of information, thank you,
I'm also running black diesel and that has given me a lot better

@Locked79 , I'm in Townsville, Queensland, you?, I haven't decided on exact gearset to run,
I'm looking to see what I can find
In the local area as to wrecked
LandCruisers, I'm also running
parabolic springs on the front.

Rito, being in Aus makes things a little easier. The gearset you will need will be out of an 80 series. The 80 series here never got anything lower than 4.1:1 ratio so wrecking yards will be of no help. European 80's got the 3.73:1 and also the mythical 3.58:1 which I have never seen OEM.

The good news is that Marks 4wd adaptors have both 3.73 and 3.54 for sale. Also there is a difference between the 60 series 3.7:1 (37/10 r&p) and the 80 series 3.73:1 which has the 41/11 ring and pinion.

BTW I'm in Ayr just south of you.
