So I stripped a thread on my #5 (all the way back, passenger side) and had a mechanic repair it. Now the thread blew out and the next step thread repair is $350 for just the parts. The heads are just fine with the head gaskets being no more than one year old. I really do not want to pull a perfectly good head off. I have another extra head laying around but to get that one built up and all that I'd be into it as much as a thread repair kit.

Anyone have luck with high temperature adhesives or putties for similar repairs? There is this high temp thread-locker that looks like it has potential and it comes in 500 deg and 2100 deg variants.

or this Aluminum high temp putty:

It's a good motor, strong and pulls up the canyons and I'm not ready to get into a major repair over one stripped thread. Am I lazy?

The only way to really fix it without replacing the head is to do a time-sert which I'm sure is what the machine shop is talking about. Anything else and you're just putting a band-aid on it. One that is unlikely to stay. Just my opinion.

I suppose you could give one of those adhesives a try, depending on the cost you probably won't be out much. If it doesn't work, then the head is gonna have to come off.
