Hmm, I had no problem with image distortion. Are you viewing it from your very small supercomputer? Maybe a problem with Flash or some plug-in?

A few things I liked was it listed the labor hours for the job at hand. Kinda gives you an idea whether you should do the job yourself, hired it out and if hired out, how much it should cost. 2nd one was it also had the TSB's. 3rd, the information was updated, unlike the paperback FSM which was the information at the time of printing.

I was viewing it on a 30 inch monitor. It looks like scans of a FSM. They get get distorted as you zoom in for part numbers and torque specs etc.

Toyota's site was actual PDFs that used vector graphics (or appeared to) that were way easier to magnify . All said, I am happy with both.

I'm a fan of paper. You can hold it, take it out to the truck, make copies, and take it on the trail with you without a computer or internet connection.

:meh:

Books4Cars.com - Every Repair Manual, Service Manual, Owners Manual and Book for your Car, Truck and Motorcycle

So do what I did. Download it at work and print out a copy. Mine is tabbed and bound in a 3 ring binder for easy searching. I rarely use the pdf. If I spill oil on it, I can just reprint the pages that are damaged.

Is this FAQ yet? Needs to be!

It is, but it's the PDFTown link that requires a password and can take some time to get the download. This link is easier and faster.

The one I linked to is not a scan, it's a vector based pdf. The zipped folder contains all of the subcategories for easy searching, i.e "brakes" is its own pdf. Within the pdf you can search too making it very easy to find the doohickey you are looking for. All text is infinity scalable. The pictures are just that, raster basted pictures. I am about 100% sure this is exactly the same thing that a service tech would view. The small text is easy to read on my monitor and when printed.

Here is page BR 11 at 1:1 Looks pretty darn good.

And here it is at 1200%. Note that the text is clear vector and the picture gets pixelated.

Yeah...I have that version too. I like it but wanted to have material specific to my year (for the navigation/climate control/ entertainment mainly).

lexi, be cautious, that stuff is copyrighted/QUOTE]

Thanks Trunk; good looking out. I'm not sure how practical it is anyway as a project. My idea stemmed from being without an electronic copy and yet not liking any paid services that are out there. I thought Mudders could compile a few manuals to start an archive. But if bringing it in house would cause some concerns with copyright, then scanning 1,500 pages per set of manuals doesn't seem to be worth while.

I have that one, but it is for the US version, steering wheel on the wrong side. :p
But I reckon that most stuff should be the same, apart from switches as we found out.

Maybe they should change their name to SOMEDATA. ;)

BTW, this is from another Mudder....

1999 Manuals

Awww man you got me... I thought you had a link to download the 1999 manuals... I've downloaded other year FSM's but have never been able to find the 99 FSM's... I also saw the hard copies for sale above; similar prices can be found on ebay almost anytime...

to the OP,

know anything about the order of the pages? I've gone through a few sections with acrobat putting them in order but boy is that tedious!

Nope. It's a very difficult puzzle that I have not yet attempted to solve. I tabbed the main sections and I use a lot of sticky notes in my hard copy for sections I frequently visit or are currently working with.

maybe we could do some collaborating. I've got the Intro, AC, Engine mech, emission, charging, cooling, Sus and Axle, Ignition, and Maintenance all in order. Let me know if you want them.

Bumpin, Re-downloading to print grease free CV R&R instructions.

^ +1 for the 1999 FSM.
PDF format is fine for me. I tent to print the sections needed for a given job.
The 2004 FSM is extremely helpful, but there ARE important differences from the 1999 [actually probably all pre-2002] models.
I'm a long-time AlldataDIY subscriber, but their 100 Series info is a small subset of the full FSM. In many sections it simply lists standard book time and not much more It was very frustrating to use before I got hold of the 2004 FSM pdf.

Bump to increase the search-ability of the thread.

MUD standard search parameters only find threads with at least 5 replies. If you are having trouble finding something with search try adjusting that setting and if you like a thread comment to pad the thread post count to at least 5.

Service manual, Repair manual, Shop manual, Repair Guide

If someone could locate a Body Repair Manual and EWD and scan it that would be great. Probably a direct posting to MUD wouldn't work but getting it up somewhere would be nice.

I have the A343F Automatic Transmission Manual (No RM479U) and would be willing to send it to anyone interested in the project. It's 113 pages and is basically disassembly and reassembly only. No troubleshooting, diagnostics, testing or theory.

Gday Mate,

How are ya?!

Mate I was hoping you could help us out buddy....I have recently bought a Surf with a buggered auto A343 gearbox.

Mate I really need a copy of the Service Manual and I noticed in a post you made that you had a copy?

Could I please obtain a copy of the A343F Service Manual?

Thanks heaps bud,

Stan

Bumping this still active instant download for the vectorized PDF 2004 FSM, Factory Service Manual, Shop Manual for searchability.
