Here's a couple of shots from todays foray into the howling wilderness east of us. I was too busy driving to get many. Lots of technical, slow rolling overs deep ruts while threading between trees.
We checked out some of my Father-In-Law's land along the creek, removed a down tree from across a trail, and Barry tested the mud depth at a few key locations. That leg will never be the same
Greg loves his water crossings!! Barry and I had fun in the creek too.
We are going back soon to explore a couple of narrow trails that cut into my F-I-L's land. He is waiting on a full report.
It just hit me that there weren't any trail-lice down there. I didn't see anyone else the whole time. Maybe the thing on TV scared them off? Maybe they don't go down there when it's dry, thinking there's less opportunity to trash the woods.

Also, I want to take my Rhino down some time when you guys go. Is there a place close that I can unload it off a trailer and hit the trails and not have to leave the truck/trailer on the road looking so obvious? Also it would need to be close as the Rhino is not street legal.
We drove for about 1/2 mile up a creek bed. It was very shallow most of the way. Only at the end did it get a little deep. I took the shot from above after I had cleared the last hole. If it rains this week, we'll stay out of the creek for a while.
There really isn't much of a place to park a truck/trailer w/o being conspicous. There are other places near here where it wouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't do it where we were sunday in the present mood. we entered off of lakeland and had to cross some dirt piles, presumably erected to keep ATV's out. No obstacle for Greg though.

Went down after lunch today to the same spot in order to pick up the roof bar that got pulled off on sunday. Found it!!
We disovered another, less conspicuous way to go in. You could definately pull a trailer back there. Let me know if you want to try it sometime. Preferably after things dry out a little.
I almost got stuck in the creek today. The bottom sort of dissapeared at one point and we became a frothing blur of silt, sand and water. I spewed a few gallons of through the open windows onto my son and the interior of my truck! the 'ol fj pulled through tho' and we made it to solid ground again.

I keep hearing that they are trying to shut down the trails on the Pearl over by Belhaven. Do y'all think this is going to happen? I used to live on Laurel St. over there; we had some good times back in them there woods.
