Exploring the Clayoquot Area

Went up to Tofino this past weekend with some friends, peeled away from the main group who wanted to go to town hit the bars. instead we tried to make a run for Virgin Falls. Big washout stopped us unfortunately, we could have made it but if it had gone sideways that is a long walk back to town.
Camped at Kennedy Lake the first night, Bella Pacifica Campground the second night where the real drinking went down, then packed up and headed for virgin falls, but ended up at Muriel Lake.

So Virgin Falls road is ATV only, or is it going to get pounded out for trucks?

no its do-able, a jeep squeezed passed me and hammered through it, I just didnt want to take a the risk alone, he figured since I was there he'd try...we'd already walked a ways down the road

yup stayed at Redneck the first night, usually stay at rainbow but figured it would be hard to get the truck down there haha...tend to launch the boat at redneck though...

Does that wire rope thing on the front of your truck work? I usually source out a recovery point before I commit.

Don't let it fool you, watched the jeep almost slide down the left side of the photo sideways before hammering it through and getting air on the front end haha. When you're with the that doesn't like off-roading, and you're 40km in the backcountry without having seen anyone all day....in my mind playing it safe was the way to go. Had the jeep pulled up behind me an hour earlier I would have gone through

I've grudgingly had to make the same decision on a few occasions. I totally get it.

Its been a good year, probably two more to come in April! get out when i can, take advantage of it!

this was august long weekend up there, love it in the summer, easier to drive in the winter though, less salmon berry bushes

summer wont slow down my tofino trips, great boating, swimming, drinking weather....but this time of year is definitely my favourite. rain or shine...we just lucked out!
