Now that we’ve got Crash back in the mix, we’re expanding our offerings. We started bringing back repairs on pre 1995 vehicles a few months ago. Well, the people have finally convinced me to add Non-U.S. Spec vehicles to the mix as well. There are some caveats to the Non-U.S. stuff but we are repairing them now. The major exception is that we’re still banning South and Central American vehicles. Feel free to give us a call if there’s something we can help with 540-316-8677. Or check out www.otramm.com to book online.

Why the ban on South and Central American vehicles?
Because every one I've seen should have stayed in whatever junkyard it was drug out of. They end up sitting here forever because the owners can't fathom how a vehicle they just spent a ton of money on could need that much work. Everyone we've seen has been butchered into oblivion but had shiny paint. Maybe there are some decent ones out there. We've yet to see one. What has to be done to keep vehicles on the road down there just doesn't mesh with owner expectations here.

really sucks for those owners.
Says the owner of one of “those”.

However, your truck is an outlier I would say, right Bob?

The SA 40 series vehicles get bashed here on MUD frequently. Know as “lipstick on a pig” vehicles. So I do like to come to their defense. There are a ton of SA 40 series out there in great shape, like mine. Also, when I was 40 shopping 8 years ago I was amazed at the NA 40 junk out there selling at a premium, lipstick vehicles. That’s what pushed me , besides my interest in something different, towards the FJ 43. With the rush for some folks to have an “iconic” 40 a lot of shady folks dumped SA vehicles on the market and then a bunch of trusting, unsuspecting, under researched knuckleheads bought them at high prices.
So no denying that they are out there as @OTRAMM can testify. But please don’t deny that there are not plenty of NA Land Cruisers that are pure junk and selling and being purchased by the people wanting to get into the “iconic” game, then going broke with their restoration efforts.
@OTRAMM is not bashing the SA vehicles, his is true testimony. But the slant towards them does touch a nerve!
Amen

There are plenty of absolute garbage NA rigs as well. The problem is that I've yet to see a SA rig that wasn't garbage. Every one that we've let slip in to the shop in the past has been a complete nightmare of a vehicle. It's way easier to exclude them and save my sanity than it is to schedule them in on the hopes that we see that one in a million outlier. And to be clear, I have nothing against the countries of origin. They have been some of my absolute favorite places to visit. It's just that their repair standards just don't mix with the expectations of what people are paying for them. The entire budget is being spent on vehicle acquisition and then the owner is dumbfounded that there is so much correction needed to make them safe and reliable.
