I need a manifold for my 76 FJ40 which has an 8/76 build date. I've found manifolds for up to 8/76 and for 8/76 and up. So which do I need?? I assume they are different and I could potentially buy the wrong one. It's the stock 2F with 4spd. Any help is appreciated.
You'll need the smog one for a California truck... If in doubt, the newer one, but it matters more for you there. I've put 1977 2F manifolds on a 1974 F, so either would likely fit. It's the testing I'd worry about there.
Thanks guys. My understanding regarding getting a Cal-worthy manifold is that it's only if the truck was manufactured as a CA truck. Mine was imported here so it is a 49 state emission vehicle. Can I mix and match parts between a 49 State and a CA build?
I think so and, in fact, I don't think the thermal reactor manifold is required for original CA trucks any longer. There are none available, so I believe they allow OEM federal manifolds now. I'm not absolutely positive, but I believe I've read that a number of times here on mud.

I have a spare off my 77 Ca. rig I am not using, and prob never will, if you are interested. I also have new OEM gaskets for the spacer between it and the intake, plus new studs(need to confirm the size for these) Post up in the classifieds, and I can get some pics for you. You may find Georg @valley has what you need-he is way closer to you than me(I'm in Fl., so shipping would be substantial)
Thanks guys. Spotcruiser thanks for the info. sggoat, I may want it. I reached out to george. In the meantime, what would you charge for the manifold and I'll figure out shipping costs.
