Engo winch - anybody heard how they perform?!

Any word on this? Mace? I saw your bumper build and was thinking this is what you put in it and wondering if you've used it yet?

Nope, still need to hook up the wires and put the fairlead on.

I finally got some use out of mine last weekend. A rear tire slipped off a wet rock and into a hole climbing a 1.5' step up a riverbed. I was stuck on the rear bumper and the TC with wheels spinning. I hooked up to an unnamed vehicle and winched myself out with no problem. The motor didn't get hot, it wasn't noisy, and it did the job flawlessly after total immersion on numerous occasions.

My only complaint is that when you disengage the spool, it wants to completely unravel, necessitating pulling out the entire length of cable and reeling it back in. I don't know if that is an issue with other winches, but it's a pain in the ass.

Overall, it gets an A from me.

I used mine to get a motorless FJ40 on a trailer.

Worked just fine. And, I love the handheld cordless remote..

The wireless remote is such a nice touch. The only workout mine got was when i first spooled the wire. It had no problems moving an 80 uphill and never got hot. The unspooling of the wire definitely sucks though.

BTT any new info on the engo line? looking at a 10000 with synthetic line. hard to beat for $425!

I've been using mine for two years now. Worked great. I did have a hickup this summer. The brake failed inside the drum. I called and chatted with Joel about it. He sent me a new brake unit and I fixed the winch myself. Worked perfectly. No drama

I'm fully happy with the winch still!

We have sold a few with no complaints about performance so far. The price is low. We have had some customers order them without the steel cable and roller fairlead and then install our spliced synthetic winch line and hawse farileads.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at the 10,000 S set up which includes the synthetic line and hawse fairlead.

Metal tech has them on sale for $426 and free shipping. Seems like a great deal, and I'm not going to be using mine a ton, but certainly don't want a throwaway item or something that doesn't work properly when I need to.

That is the one I have. With one glitch (which they took care of rapidly) it has performed flawlessly.
