Hi all,

I'm moving North and would like to install a block heater or equivalent into my 3.0 V6. There are a variety of options out there but which is the best (most efficient) for my engine? I've heard good things about the external type that tie into an oil line.

Thanks,

Brian

use a block heater. pull out a freeze plug and slap one in.

try to do it after you have drained out the coolant.

don't know of any external engine oil lines anywhere on that engine. so where you would tie that in is beyond me...

Toyota sells a block heater for that engine, I installed one in the V6 in my '92 4Runner. It was a total PITA to get installed. Or, I should say it was a nightmare getting the freeze plug out. It did help on really cold days, I would plug into a timer that would kick it on about 3 hours before leaving in the morning.
