Hi - I have sourced a replacement 2F engine block - new old stock from the Middle East that has no engine stamp - is it possible to buy original Toyota stamps and the setting die so that I can keep the same number as my original that has sadly died?

That is a good idea. A trophy shop can engrave your tab with a pantograph. Bring them a paper example of what you want. IF they botch it they can try again. I suppose you could attach it to the correct spot on the block with JB weld. Then file it to match the block. Then paint.

OK, clean the paint off. Cover the number with sharpie, let dry. Put scotch tap on the number. Rub well. Remove the tap and stick to paper. You should have a nice transfer of the number. IF not play with it. Once nice, take that to the trophy shop. They should be able to copy it. Some shops now have a CNC pantograph. They can scan your transfer and make an exact copy.

My question is how were you able to find a NOS block ?
I found one in the Middle East, it cost about the same as a full refurb and I spent an age finding a new head to go with it. I began the search with Facebook and then got a friend in the UAE who is into LC's to check out the places offering new / old blocks. I got the last one from the contact I found but I suspect there are lots more out there. The transport and inport tax and duty were steep but hopefully worth it. I also managed to secure a new gear box and transfer case. I have used refurbed bell housing and had to get lots of additional gaskets that were separate parts... still not completely built, missing small things.
