Hey all, I’m a noobie here, not sure how this forum works but I was sent here from a Facebook group as I’m having difficulty with this engine fuse. So my truck is a 1985 BJ73 with the 3B motor, and a few weeks ago the engine fuse started blowing randomly while driving- disabling my dash and blinkers, glow plugs etc. now every time I turn the key to the on position my fuse blows. I disconnected the starter and the glow plugs, glow plug relay, followed wires to trailer brakes, disconnected after market radio. I’m sort of stuck here and not sure what to do next, anyone had this issue?

Hello,

It sounds like two wires making either a short circuit or bad ground.

This is a tough gremlin to catch and kill. However, it is possible.

It is possible that whoever installed the aftermarket radio damaged the wiring.

Check your wiring harness, within the instrument panel, for splines or hacks.

Check your grounds.

Do you have a wiring diagram? Get yourself one if you do not.

I had it once, main fuse blowing, went through two of them, my starter earth rattled loose or was it the starter battery clamp was loose. It will be a connection, somewhere.
