Engine cut's out. (1 Viewer)

My engine (1FZ-FE) cuts out or has a very low idle <200rpm after:

-it comes off the freeway or a long high speed drive
-I come down a hill to a stop

all this of course after it warms up.
Curiously, after it dies and I restart the engine it runs smooth, idles normal @ 600rpm.

I use shell gas and have used injector cleaner last 2 tankfuls

The engine has 181K on it. I bought it as 2nd owner. I have not checked the plugs as yet as the shop I brought it into told me that it was not time for a tune up. There is no sign of a vacuum or fuel leak either.

I'm suspecting the fuel system as the culprit. Fuel pump or injectors??

Any thoughts men?

There can be several problems related to what you're seeing. A search of this forum will reveal many more.

I would first look for cracks on the intake plenum. Unmetered air entering downstream of the MAF sensor will play havoc on the system.

Also some basic information on the vehicle would really help alot. Year and country of origin would be a good place to start. What has been done recently or not so recently to the engine?

Without details it's hard to help.
