Eric,

I really think the lesson from all of this is: Use whatever you want. I use WD-40 every few months; my windows work fine. He uses marine blue/green grease, she uses silicon spray, you use lithium spray, they use... whatever! Also:

1) The motors are strong. I don't believe that's usually the issue.

2) Permanent (or at least 10 more years or so) fix is obvious but unappealing: replace the tracks.
