electric locker problem (Prado rear axle)

My electric locker wont disengage.

Right now the vehicle just get's used off pavement.

Am I likely to damage the diff by going on pavement?

Trouble shooting tips?

Get underneath and have someone actuate it so you can check if the motor is running. If not, you can next check the wiring. It could be the wiring, or the motor is bad. A bad motor might just need a cleaning and new brushes.

If the motor is running, it could be that the collar is somehow stuck in the diff carrier. You can pull off the actuator assembly and look around with a flashlight and see if you can move the collar (carefully) with a large screwdriver or something.
