I'm wanting to put an early pto on my troopie that has an h41.... does not exactly mate up. Sorry for no pics. I'll try and take some later. Anyone ever tried this or know someone who did? Thanks!

I found an article in french on how to modify an older box to fit a splitcase I think I have it on a jumpdrive translated with google translation

Whitey didn't most fj62 splits come with pto gear? Or am I confused

Ahhh man. That's cool. Maybe someone on here has a pic or some guidance.

Ooops I posted to whitey before refreshing this page. That'd be awesome tornado if you have that! As always, thanks fellas! the best sub forum on mud!

I meant to say gearbox, even though the gears can be hard to find as well. If you have an article how to convert an early box, start a thread because alot of people would be happy to convert, instead of paying $500 for a rare piece that's hard to find! Mud is a great resource!

Some vehicles TOYOTA Series 4, 6, 7 are equipped with an original PTO mounted on the transfer box that lets you run most often a mechanical winch, through a shaft positioned along chassis.

For vehicles not equipped, it is possible to adapt the PTO other vehicles.

Before getting anything, we must identify the various existing models.

The PTO mounted on the transfer box before 1981 contain 3 internal gear with an AV output and AR. The three gears are used to control two direction of rotation by moving the pinion mounted on the output shaft. The downside of this principle is that the primary gear is in constant gear box on the transfer. The control lever placed in the cockpit has three positions: neutral center position, and winding course in front and rear position

From 1981 new housing transfer box appear on the series 4, 6, taken from the forces remain the same in the operating principle, but the menu changes slightly in shape, making it impossible to mount the old PF on new transfer cases.

Some time later the 5-speed box fitted to some vehicles, the rear exit of PF disappear, while the order on the case moves from back to front because PF is found closer to the chassis through the models short.

The end of 1984 PF change in principle and the central gable disappears. The primary gear is portable, thus avoiding the run constantly. Unfortunately, the final output of the PF pert direction of rotation, while the control lever retains only two positions: neutral or engaged, he must then play with the reverse gear of the gearbox to unwind the winch cable

Now, the changes to be made to adapt a PTO of the first generation of a transfer box later.

Totally dismantling the components installed on the housing to make the cuts and changes to the mounting holes. The easiest way to reproduce the holes is to place the plate transfer box on decision
force by aligning the two holes to extrémités.Il contrepercer just have to get the new position of the screws. Be careful to provide for new BTR screws because it is not possible to pass a tool for hexagonal head screws. The new holes overlap the old, but it's impact on the operation.

When the changes allow mounting the housing on the transfer box, it is necessary to place Redemont gears inside. But the gear box located in the transfer does not fall in front of the primary pinion PF. We must therefore bring these two gears as much as possible in front of one another. To do this, the timing of the primary pinion to be changed. The sleeve that makes the original 11mm should be removed and replaced with a sleeve 8mm, and a 3mm washer on the other side. see map

To keep the gears online primary and secondary must also change the pitch of the gable side, and replace the sleeve with a 27mm socket 24mm, remembering to finish with a 3mm washer on the other side. see map

After these modifications, the assembly may be considered, but if the vehicle is equipped with a 5-speed transmission and the chassis is near the crossing, the winch control on the rear of the PF will hinder the development of housing on the transfer box. A new amendment to the housing is required to place the order forward.

To make this change, we must break the housing, manufacturing a range of new tree and a guide for dernier.L assembly taking place with three M4 screws.
pic13.webp

To-break against the housing, use the guidance of origin of the tree fork and cross the other side of the housing
pic14.webp

To make the guide must implement the plan as shown, preferably of aluminum and mounted an O-ring to seal assembly
