has anyone fabbed their own spring perches? i have some 2"x 3/16" square tubing... was thinking about making a perch about 6" long. the thought was to make one side longer to try to offset axle wrap. any thoughts on this?

I think I got my last set of spring perches for an axle from Mopar or something. Like $12 or so. Wasn't worth my time. you spring over or something that's causing the wrap? antiwrap bar might be a solution.

in the process of springing over......i'll be running enough torque to possibly cause some wrap. i was hoping to kill two birds with one biscuit:

1, i'm still trying to decide if i'm gonna outboard my hangers or mount a perch on the diff to get the 60 series axles somewhat lined up under the 45 frame.

2, prevent getting some axle wrap if i could, or if its worth it.

i went and got some of those $12 mopar perches. they sit lower than the original ones, getting them up on the diff enough to sit correctly might take some work. using the 2" stock would get them tall enough to get up on the diff. if i went that route i was wondering if the springs were about 2 3/4", and the perch was made from 2" stock would it hurt the springs? would it crush the 3/16" side walls?
and could the perch help to prevent axle wrap? if if wasn't worth making my own then i'd turn my attention to ourboarding the spring hangers.

Heres my outboarded springs on a 45, I had clearense problems with the factory cablelockers with the springs in the original place.

And please make a traction bar in there, longer springperches would NOT make any difference considering the axlewrap.

heres my bar:

Beefier is better, there are some huge forces going on at the rear axle specially with SOA.

(sorry about the J##P):)

goodness.....that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. poor pinion!! well, at least it was a jeep! thanks for the reply!

The Rufstuff perches are longer too, maybe even more than 6". Triple drilled for wheelbase 'adjustments'. And, like all their stuff, super beefy.

Here, take a look:
