Correct me if I’m wrong…PLEASE

I'm changing engines from a 1972ish F to a rebuilt 1970ish F

The new one has a DUI distributor that needs a 12 ga feed.

I think that I need to run the wire that supplied the old coil (BY) to a normally open relay

with the power feed from the battery, through the relay, to the distributor.

BY to Terminal 86 on relay. Ground terminal 85 to body or take it to the negative battery terminal. Connect a 12ga wire to Terminal 30 on relay then to a 15 amp fuse, then to battery +. Last connect Relay terminal 87 to the DUI. When you turn on the key the relay will energize providing the DUI with a good solid +12V.

I was up in Phoenix last week and found Garie in Peoria. He is "GotCruiser.com". I purchased a DUI from him for my 71' FJ40, at a reasonable price. I am looking forward to install it, after the 40 gets some body work and paint completed....Seat frames should be out of powdercoating this next week - very excited. I think this will be a great mod for 99% stock 71'. If you need a DUI distributor, I believe he has a couple more along with the wire set, his email is: 4wd@gotcruiser.com. He also has some very cool cruiser Tshirts. BTW Garie seems to be a great guy.
