My 73 has stock drums all around. I know one of the front right shoes has a bit of a chip in it, replacements are on the way. I also suspect the front right drum itself is a little warped.

What I am noticing - very slight oscillation on the brake pedal at higher speeds when braking.

When moving slowly, near the end of a braking, the knocking is slightly audible and noticeable on the pedal. more than an oscillation, almost like a notch.

It seems like it is getting worse, but this may be because they are due for an adjustment.

I have new shoes on the way for the front and suspect I may need to get the front drums honed. Does anyone even do that anymore?

Thanks in advance,
Ezra in SF.

I would inspect your drums carefully before driving it more
you could have a cracked brake drum
A chipped shoe wouldn't cause a knocking sound
Or feel like a notch
Pull the wheels off and have someone press brakes look for a crack opening up
Turn drum to different position and repeat
Or remove drum and spray outside with brake clean
Or a thin solvent and look inside for signs of it seeping through the crack
