I was experiencing some pretty decent vibration so I decided to first check the balance of the tires. They turned out great so I decided to just replace the ujoints because who knows when the po changed them last. While I was replacing them, I noticed that the yoke on the output of the tcase was loose. After I took the driveshaft all the way off I noticed that the nut that holds the yoke on the case was very loose. The seal looked to be pretty new but torn a little. Whover changed parts in the tcase forgot to use a punch to form the nut into the groove in the shaft so it became loose. The question is, should I expect the bearing to go out on the output of the tcase? I checked for excessive play and it seemed to be good and there isn't any vibration or unusual noise. I have only owned this 4runner for about two weeks now and I don't know how long the vibration was existant before I owned it.

edit:I forgot to mention that this is an 86 4runner with a 22re.

There was a bolt loose on the driveshaft where it connects to the transfercase and it vibrated real bad. It is amazing what one loose bolt can do. I check them all the time now.

Thanks guys. So far so good. I guess I will see after my holiday travels to california and back in the 4runner.
