New to the forum and to cruisers. Looking forward to meeting you all.

I think the best way to into tube myself in the ABQ area is to ask if anyone has a spare drivers window for a 80 series:mad:? Happened at 04:20 this morning.

Thanks,

Oh bummer dude, that sucks.

Well, none could be found in the ABQ salvage yards or the pick and pull (there was one in Farmington). Went ahead and ordered a window from Beno along with some window runs. This isn't the first window Albuquerque has claimed.

Gah, sorry to hear. At least you can do the auto up mod while you have the switches out, and I bet with new runs that window will jump up even in the cold! :grinpimp:

Swypo'd from my droid using IH8MUD

I would rather perfer that it won't go up in just the cold vs. the rain! It sucks that happened to vol, and that Albuquerque is gettinng known for that crap.

Window installed! Was my first, not difficult at all. Getting all the glass out of the door was the the only tricky part. The window rolls up much faster now. Although the window was faster with the door panel and interior weather strip off. I am wondering if replacing the interior weather strip will reduce some friction?

Thanks to Beno for the killer deal on the glass and 2 runs!

Interesting, the two new runs made the window go up faster?

nice job on the fix. i've contemplated it. quite a few threads about lubing/replacing the window runs to fix the slow motors, either with cold and or moisture... i've done the spray PB dry lube down the runs with limited but partial success... i should just replace the runs on my driver window.

seriously, if you haven't done the auto up mod, it's totally worth the $.99 at radio shack, 5mins of your time and the drops of solder. search the 80 section, buy the diode, and head out to my place. we'll put it in in 5 mins and you'll wonder how you ever lived without it! :grinpimp: seriously...

The 2 front windows now roll up like I assume they were meant to. Big difference! I am no longer afraid to roll it down when entering KAFB in the mornings.

With a new run and the interior panel/weather strip off: 100% better
With the door panel/interior weather strip installed: only 50% better. (I may price a new strip for the drivers door and see if its worth while to try a new one)

All in all, I am happy with the results.

I will have to take your advice and do the auto up mod.

good data. i might have to source the same and do my driver window.

i work on base too, i bet we could figure something out, there would be easier for you than my place in the EM i'm guessing... send me an email when you want to knock it out. when you read about it, it's super easy, just need the switch panel.
