Does anyone have any experience with the drawer system from Solid Wood Worx? I'd been considering them, and now that they just announced a Black Friday sale, I'm really tempted to pull the trigger. Similar to SHW Offroad, which had been my top choice, they come as a flat pack kit with everything pre-cut and drilled and then you assemble them yourself - Much easier/faster than full DIY, but not as expensive as the premium options.

If you got a set, what do you think? Have they been durable and rattle-free? Is the sleep platform extension solid?
Thanks!

Can’t speak to these brands but at $1300+ for a flat pack they are already in big box pricing with ARB and Dobinson. At least with big box you’ll get some level of warranty and long term support.

I’m feeling the pain of regret after purchasing a SHW system. Key parts didn’t ship and can’t get anyone at SHW to respond to me. Maybe they’re working to resolve the situation but who knows.

I make drawer systems but not for everyone ($$$). What sets me up well above the rest is...
- all the edges are hand finished, sanded multiple times and coated (ohers just cut and send you raw wood)
- no visible bolts, screws, nails etc.
- no straps or turnbuckles. The system attaches to the floor mounting points
- tight tolerances between pieces

The cons: I don't send flatpack because the install is as important as the manufacturing process. But for those from SoCal, I install for free.

Below is a bamboo version made for the 200 series but as I mostly make for the 80 series. Prices start at $2700

I am also finishing an overlanding setup for the 80 series as of right now (hence the mess all over the platform). It has en extension for those who want to delete the second row seats (and have a sleeping platform), it has space for a 13gal water tank, a dometic fridge and today I am installing a diesel heater for those who want to camp in the winter. I like elegant solutions so everything is hidden from plain view, if possible. I also used to build yachts so I like the black stripes and I wanted them for this particular design. They are the same material as used in yachts. Of course I will have the regular surface option and bamboo as well.

But like I said. This is not for everyone.

That's really disappointing to hear. I hope they take care of things for you.
I ended up ordering SHW's "expedition" drawers because I liked the way they integrated a tilting fridge slide. It's flush with the top so 2 people can sleep in the truck w/o the fridge, or one with a fridge strapped in. I haven't heard anything from them other than an automated order confirmation a month ago, but it *should* show up w/in another couple weeks. I'll try to remember to provide an update when it arrives and I install it.

Those are some beautiful setups. The premium custom drawer systems can get really expensive, but in your case, it seems like a good value for the quality level. From what I've gathered, that used to be the case here in Colorado. But post-COVID, prices here seem to have gone through the roof - Unfortunately, I ended up being 5+ years late to the party!

How are you venting the diesel heater? I'd started looking into one for my 80, but have been leaning towards just using an electric mattress pad instead. I was thinking about putting a heater outside in my Jerry can holder and piping the hot air in through one of the sliding rear quarter windows. But having a heater inside and venting the exhaust out could be interesting.

I mostly install diesel heaters in vans and I have installed it the same way. I drilled two holes through the floor. The exhust goes out but the diesel heater sits inside to recirculate and dry up the air inside. That's how it's meant to be. In my case it sits behind the passenger seat because I was left only with 8 boxes with 5KW models, which are bigger, and didn't feel like orderin one. But if you have a drawer setup and you decide to buy the smaller 2KW unit, it will fit perfectly all the way in the back, in either corner of the truck. My son has a 2KW one and he will install one in his 80 series. This is the best option but I didn't want to wait and installed the bigger one.

Also remember that the diesel heater is not just to keep you warm but also to keep everything inside warm--> moisture-free. One person breathes out around one glass of water every 24hr. If you keep your area closed to preserve temperature it's like spilling a glass of water over your bed, equipment, carpets etc. This is why you have condensation on the windows: it's your breath. So a diesel heater is much more than an electric blanket.

Also, when you have a diesel heater and want to go in and out multiple times, you don't care. You open the door and don't worry about cold air coming in because it will be warm two minutes later. This makes lie easier.

If you were closer, I would sell you my Landshark drawers.
I have the SHW "lite" in my sequioa and it was "meh"......maybe they figured out how to secure the drawer to the cargo floor better.

Unfortunately, similar to @BenScott, I have a less than positive update to share about SHW Off-Road. When I ordered a set of their drawers, SHW Off-Road set the expectation that they'd ship in 4-6 weeks. It's now 8 weeks later and there's no sign of them. Delays can happen, but what's unacceptable is that I've had no communication from them. They didn't proactively reach out to let me know there would be a delay, but much worse, they haven't replied to any of my attempts to get an update. Over the last 2 weeks, I've tried using the contact form on their website, emailing, calling, and even DM'ing them on Facebook. SHW hasn't replied and won't even answer their phone. At this point it looks like they've taken over $2,000 from me and don't plan to fulfill my order. This is beyond the worst possible customer service and appears as though it may be fraud.

For giggles I emailed SHW Off-Road thru their web link for delivery lead time and had a response within an hour.

Sounds like a sad situation if they are not following up on existing orders but speedy to answer new order inquiries.

I was hoping they were all on vacation or really slammed with volume, but it sounds like they definitely are actively prioritizing new sales opportunites (taking people's money) and not following through on existing orders.

You will get yours eventually. There are other worst vendors with bad ethicates than SHW...Just read up on the "Bad Seller" forum.

Similar case with me. Mine finally showed up (without any heads up notification) just shy of 3 months from when the order was placed. Maybe it'll be the same for you.

Typical MO for a ponzi scheme style business model that uses revenue from new sales to build inventory for prior sales. Doesn't usually end well in the long run.

Hey, I am the owner of SHW Off-road, I am not a Ponzi scheme or in any financial trouble. I am a debt free business. That being said I am mostly a one man show other than the when I have an employee here helping (hard to keep employees). I really struggle with phone calls as If I am in the shop, I can’t answer them. Email is by far the best way to contact me. If any email gets answered quicker than others it is simply because I happened to be at my PC answering emails when it came in. Usually during lunch or over weekends when I am typically not running the CNC. This is a perfect example of I happen to be on my PC during lunch and hadn’t looked at Ih8mud in a while and thought I would check it out

Not sure why people aren’t getting emails. My website sends an automatic email when we ship giving the tracking number and a link to assembly and install instructions. I am not an IT guy so I can’t speak to it intelligently but i know i can see where our system sends it.

Thank you. It is just me most of the time and it takes time to get systems out. I have never and will never not deliver, but we currently are running 12 weeks.

I am a one man show so if anyone gets a quicker response than anyone else, it is simply because I happened to be setting down at my PC at that moment answering emails. I spend most days in the shop and do my best to respond to emails but will be the first to admit that it is something I struggle with. Hopefully someday i will have someone who can be near a PC all day responding quickly.
