I guess the only option we have as 100-series owners in the US is to go OEM (unless someone knows of an alternative option).
Hot take: OEM headers are honestly worth the money even compared to DT.

Personally I'd much rather spend $1200 in a different way on my vehicle and the alleged 20hp depends on a lot more than just the headers (engine to engine there will be variation, what cat-back setup you use can choke the flow, etc.)

Put another way, you'll have to run a custom exhaust from front to back to really see performance gains and I'd rather spend that $2,000 on gas money and experiences. If the headers are leaking/ticking, obviously fix them if you can. DT will last forever, presumably, but 25 years isn't bad for OEM

Everything you said is very true........if you were talking to normal rationale folks! But you know anyone reading this already has the cruiser sickness :cool:and we're all looking for ways to make our ride a little more special and we have no problem burning dollar bills! My headers are absolutely fine but if I had an option for the DT's I'd gladly right them a check!

Not a hot take at all! Honestly I'm in full agreement: OEM lasted this long, it's good value for the money. In my case, I have my passenger side cracked, and I know the driver side was replaced by a previous owner of my truck, so it's not about getting ponies out of this engine but rather fixing the problem once and for all.

The way I see is that if we had multiple options available, then OEM looks less desirable compared to the DTs because of the material quality and the design while being somewhat in the same budget. OEM is still phenomenal and a great choice, but now it's the only choice ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ which is a shame.

I'll add in that for as much as I like the idea of a $2k exhaust to make everything sound good, I wheel my truck too much. I've already smacked the rear bumper on rocks and if it weren't for the generic U-Haul tow hitch that the previous owner installed, my exhaust would be destroyed by now. So yeah, a $2k exhaust front-to-end just wouldn't be worth it.

can the tundra 4.7 headers be modified to fit by replacing the first runner on the drivers side? or will the entire left side need reworked? the dt headers look like they hug closer to the block.

the picture attached is from one of the cheap 4.7 stainless headers listed on ebay. from the reviews, quality is lackluster. I presume they're 400 series ss.

can anyone estimate the cost to have a welder rework the left side to clear our 100 series?

i'm not sure modifying these is worth the hassle or increasing the chances of future leaks. none of us want to do this job twice.

FYI- The good news is XAT Racing is looking to pick up the slack and are working with multiple companies to see what they can do about filling the gap in the market (DT not building headers for the 100 series). Although they don't have a time estimate right now on when that might be,

Hi all - same for me - gave the money July 25 - since then heard nothing - interested in a group buy or an appropriate alternative. Bit of a head scratcher this one....

That's great news. XAT makes quality stuff.
