Yeah that intesting. I never thought about that lip thing that is on doorless vehicles. I probably would get busted quick in the ATL. You learn something new everyday. Well in my case a lot of learning everyday.

Would I run the 80 doorless? Doubtful since it's my DD and not my trail rig. If it were my trail rig I believe I'd make a set of half doors out of a set of junkyard doors. This gives you the added visibility/air flow without sacrificing the safety aspect.

That's exactly what i was going to suggest. I have a friend who has done a lot of custom fab work to his tacoma and he picked up a set of junk yard doors for his tacoma; took them and cut the bottom of the window out so he had a partial door. Turned out really cool, plus he has the strength of the door remaining in place.

The cut down doors you guys are talking about are commonly called "half doors" in the mini truck world. There are tons of threads on them over at Pirate.

Holly s#%^& oh no, oh nodont tell me you gonna make something similar to these... :flipoff2: hell no...
That should be a crime, punishable by smack on the face! :o

didn't robbie mention something recently about finding cracked c pillars on 80s? I would not think taking out the doors would help that problem much. Plus an 80 with no doors or half doors would look butt ugly. If you love the open air get a 40.

Running half doors isnt for the looks, its for the added visability of what your running over when wheeling.

Your ride wouldn't be a lot of fun if you got caught in a heavy rain without doors or windows. Anything you left inside would also be subject to expropriation.

The only vehicles I know that do this with benefit are racers.

I remember someone mentioning something about that, but, IIRC, it pertained only to a specific set of years and that by 93 or 95 that area was reinforced? Can someone confirm whether i recall this correctly? Thanks.
