I have had an extra door lock for my 1970 FJ40 and for many years have been saying one of these days I am going to install it on the passenger door.
Well yesterday I finally got around to it.
One problem...I figured I could make my own spring clip but obviously can't.
I tried to make one out of an old acetylene striker handle but just can't get the right tension.
Going to pull the drivers door and pull that clip to get more exact measurements but was wondering if any one has an old 70 junk door and willing to pirate the clip off it or knows where to get one.
Here is a sketch to give an idea of what I am after. The clip is spring wire about 3 inches long and 1/8 inch dia. and looks sort of like a big hair pin.

If you are referring to something like this, I made one last night but to fit had to trim one side down to the point that it did not have much tension.

going to swing by my napa store tomorrow to see if I can find something.
There is not much room around the tumbler so figure the wire spring would work best.
Kind of like building a ship in a bottle.
